Data includes aerial photographs and satellite images and GIS layers in raster formats interpreted from the images depicting land cover in Bonriki and land cover changes for the Bonriki survey area for different years.Images were processed and analysed from the years 1968 to 2014 under the Bonriki Inundation Vulnerability Assessment (BIVA) project.
A GIS raster layer showing land cover for Bonriki, in Tarawa Atoll, Kiribati, as at 2014, is available via PacGeo at http://www.pacgeo.org/layers/geonode%3Abonriki_landcover_uav2014
The layer is the result of the processing of an aerial photograph that was acquired in 2014 using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, and was used to interpret land cover changes in the area.
The Bonriki Inundation Vulnerability Assessment (BIVA) project aimed to improve understanding of the vulnerability of the Bonriki freshwater reserve to coastal hazards and climate variability and change. Improved knowledge of risks to this freshwater resource will enable better adaptation planning by the Government of Kiribati.
This BIVA project was supported by the Pacific-Australia Climate Change Science Adaptation Planning (PACCSAP) programme.
