Climate in the Pacific: a regional summary of new science and management tools

This report provides a summary of the science and tools developed through the Pacific-Australia Climate Change Science and Adaptation Planning (PACCSAP) program, and the Pacific Climate Change Science Program (PCCSP) prior to that, in an easily accessible and largely non-technical format. It is intended as a key point of reference on the latest regional science for policy developers, planners and associated decision-makers and stakeholders in partner countries.

Section I is an introduction, providing a brief history of the science programs.

Section II is a summary of regional climate observations, trends and projections developed through the programs, with a focus on five key climate components.

Section III contains information on the range of management tools developed through the PCCSP and the PACCSAP science program. These tools are designed to help partner countries to both better understand their changing climate and to inform decision-making, enabling them to more effectively and efficiently plan for and adapt to the future.

Section IV provides a brief overview of the scientific data, methods and terminology underpinning this report. More in-depth information is available in the 2014 PACCSAP Science and Updated Country report.
